Peter is an experienced commercial litigator having trained and worked at well known city practices since commencing his training. He is now a consultant to Prieskel & Co for commercial litigation matters.

Peter has experience in the following fields:

• Commercial litigation: breach of contract claims, claims under guarantees, shareholder disputes (s459 petitions)
• Professional negligence claims (especially claims concerning construction professionals, accountants, surveyors, independent financial advisers and merchant banks)
• Insurance: policy coverage disputes (e.g avoidance of policy, rejection of claim, references to the Financial Ombudsman Service)
• Insolvency: reported case on assignment of a cause of action by a liquidator

He is very commercial in his approach and favours using alternative dispute resolution where possible to resolve disputes amicably and cost effectively. This approach will normally achieve practical outcomes in the majority of cases. If ADR is unsuccessful (or in a rare case inappropriate) he has extensive, heavyweight litigation experience in Chancery, Queens Bench Division and the Technology and Construction Court. He is familiar with the tactics deployed in substantial cases and adept at parrying obstacles put in his client’s way by opponents. He has also been involved in ICC and LCIA arbitrations. If instructed his preference is to do a full review of the dispute at an early stage and recommend a strategy to achieve his client’s commercial objectives. He is also willing to give his client’s estimates of costs in reaching milestones in litigation. Invariably he gets the budget right.
