The UK Competition and Market Authority (CMA) has approved BT’s acquisition of EE with no conditions attached.
After hearing concerns brought by operators and customers, the CMA has concluded that the merger will not lead to substantial lessening of competition in the UK market, including with regards to supply of retail mobile, wholesale mobile, mobile backhaul, wholesale broadband and retail broadband services.
The clearance was followed by the announcement that the £12.5 billion acquisition of EE by BT is expected to be concluded by the end of January 2016.
More information can be found in the CMA’s summary of final report and press release.
