Decision published in Hutchison/Wind Tre Merger

November 16, 2018By Preiskel & Co

The EU Commission has recently published the full decision in the Hutchison/Wind Tre merger.

The Commission confirmed in its press release of 31 August 2018 that the merger was cleared with commitments.

The full decision, now available on the EU Commission website, provides further insight into how the Commission reached its decision.

The commitments related to a previous transaction, a joint venture between Hutchison/VimpelCom, which was cleared in September 2016, with commitments. The Commission found that the mobile market in Italy had not significantly altered since its 2016 decision and identified no new competition concerns in the more recent transaction.

The EU Commission case page is available here.

Please contact Tim Cowen if you have any questions regarding the transaction, or competition law in the telecoms and data sectors more generally.
