As reported in Deadline, The Hollywood Reporter and Screen Daily, Neil Marshall’s Plague horror “The Reckoning” (IMDB link) will both world premiere and open this year’s Fantasia International Film Festival, described as perhaps “most outstanding and largest genre film festival in North America“.
As has unavoidably been the case for many other recent festivals, this year’s edition of Fantasia will take place online with a virtual screening event from 20th August to 2nd September that aims to mirror, where possible, a traditional theatrical experience. The festival’s organisers will schedule real-time virtual screenings, with firm start times and a limited number of tickets to be sold for each viewing.
Set in 1665 against the backdrop of the Great Plague, Charlotte Kirk leads the cast of the movie, which follows the witch hunts that followed the crisis. Preiskel & Co was retained as production counsel for the picture, with Peter Dally and Matthew Fox being credited in the film’s credits.
